S01E12: Jonathan has a tough decision to make

It’s the final episode and the team are waiting to hear news on whether Echo Beach has been re-commissioned.

Jonathan tries his best to find out what the network has decided. Nancy gives nothing away but tells him they will let him know their decision at 6pm. The fact that he is £100K over budget doesn’t help, she warns him, and so Jonathan makes the decision to sack one of the lead cast in order to make a second series feasible.

Who will it be - Hugo Speer, Jason Donavan or Martine McCutcheon? He meets with them one by one to discuss their possible ending. Each meeting goes entirely differently to how Jonathan planned, all with near disastrous consequences.

Carl and Kelly share a touching moment together as Kelly encourages Carl to follow his heart on the final episode. The emotion of their encounter filters through into the scene Carl is writing for Narinder and Charlie in Echo Beach.

In the final moments of Moving Wallpaper, Jonathan’s phone rings as they all crowd around and wait for ITV’s decision on the second series…
