How did the part in E20 come about?
"I auditioned for the part when I heard about it, so it was just a regular audition process. I was really pleased and excited to get the role!"
How would you describe the character of Pippa?
"She's a rich girl as she comes from a wealthy family, and she's always out for a good time! The viewers will also see that Pippa is quite a generous person, but she usually has just one thing on her mind…"
What happens to Pippa over the course of the show?
"Pippa arrives in Albert Square for a party with her boyfriend, who is Stevie's ex. But she didn't steal him from Stevie or anything like that - she didn't know that he'd had another girlfriend when they got together. She's not a trouble-causer in the show - she just gets involved in a love triangle without meaning to."
Will we see much tension between Pippa and Stevie in the show?
"You will, as Stevie hates her at first!"
"I can't really say too much! But let's just say that her love life is very varied…"
The four main E20 characters seem to go on a journey throughout the series - is it the same for Pippa?
"Pippa doesn't really go on much of a journey throughout the show, but that's because she already has a strong sense of self. Instead, Pippa's main role is to drive Stevie's story forward. I think she helps Stevie in her quest for her own identity."
Did you have much of a chance to catch up with your old Hollyoaks boss Bryan Kirkwood during your time at Elstree?
"Yes, it was lovely to catch up with him. The first thing he said was 'Your hair's grown'. You've got to love a man who notices your hair! EastEnders are very lucky to have him. He's a smart producer. I'm sure he'll have lots of exciting things planned for the residents of Albert Square, as he's brilliant at his job."
Did you enjoy your experience on E20?
"It was lots of fun and the people I worked with were great. I wish all of them luck."
What's next for you?
"I'll be appearing in Lip Service, a drama for the BBC which comes out at the beginning of October. I play an Irish TV presenter in the show. I also had fun being made to look quite gruesome for the horror film F, which is also out now. And I'm currently filming for HBO on their new drama for 2011, Game of Thrones."
The next episode of EastEnders: E20 will be uploaded tonight at 8pm on the official BBC website. Subsequent instalments will go live on Tuesdays and Thursdays each week.
