Peggy and Archie kiss, Viv returns, Ravi fights

Published Sunday, Jul 5 2009, 00:02 BST | By Kris Green | 3 comments
Phil Mitchell is not a happy bunny in EastEnders towards the middle of the month when he walks in on his mum Peggy (Barbara Windsor) kissing Archie (Larry Lamb).

Having originally ousted Archie from the Square in April, Phil returns to Walford from holiday with his son Ben (Charlie Jones) and can't believe it when he sees Archie escorting Peggy back to The Vic from their meal. Seizing the opportunity to warn Archie again, Phil insists that he's still not welcome on the Square. Archie, however, maintains that he'll leave when Peggy tells him that there's no future for them.

Having acquired a gun, Phil intends to use force to coax him to leave - as if the cement mixer and blow torch weren't enough! However, when he walks into the flat, he's stunned to see Archie and Peggy kissing.

Peggy tries to reason with her son, but Phil's not willing to listen. Despite having 'promised' not to hurt Archie, Phil pops round to his flat and issues him with a final warning: leave Walford or die.

As a parting shot, Phil drops a bullet into Archie's whiskey glass. Will Archie live to regret defying Phil?

Returning home to the village having been released from prison, Viv walks into the Post Office only to be attacked by Brenda (Lesley Dunlop), who believes that she's a thief. Paddy (Dominic Brunt) walks into the shop and is shocked to see them locked in a cat fight and quickly informs Brenda who she's wrestling with.

Meanwhile, Viv's husband Bob (Tony Audenshaw) struggles with his conscience after having slept with Gennie (Sian Reese-Williams) the previous night. He'd decided to see his wife in prison to confess his promiscuous act, but he, too, is shaken to discover that Viv's back in the village.

Following a squabble earlier in the week, Ashley (Stephen Arnold) decides to go for a few drinks with Peter (Chris Gascoyne) and Lloyd (Craig Charles) in The Rovers. However, when he returns home, Claire (Julia Haworth) won't let him into the house.

Waking up with a slightly sore head the following morning, Ashley tries to apologise to Claire but she's not prepared to forgive him so easily. With Ashley at work, Claire's looking after Freddie and doing some ironing when she suddenly collapses. Lloyd's (Craig Charles) concerned when Clare doesn't turn up for work and pops around to the house. While there, he hears Freddie crying inside and peeking through the window, he sees Claire unconscious on the floor.

Ashley throws into a state of panic when he sees Claire being carried out of the house on a stretcher. He travels to the hospital with his wife and worriedly waits for any news from the medical teams.

While he's up there, however, he makes a surprising discovery - a huge bag of cash.

I think that is it amazing how you journalists find out all this, things that people will be shocked by. Things that they don't even know is going to happen. If you can, please try and persuade the Hollyoaks director and programme writer to not let Hannah Ashworth and Sarah Barnes and Zoe Carpenter Leave! Oh...also make sure Ash doesn't leave. I mean I know he's bad but you can honestly agree with me that we haven't had an actor so lush on Hollyoaks ever before!x Yours Truely, Monica Geller x
