Music in next week's Corrie and 'Enders
Published Tuesday, Jul 28 2009, 15:44 BST | By Kris Green | 1 comment
EastEnders goes all MP3 player on us again next week in a scene reminiscent of Dot Branning (June Brown) listening to Franki Valli's 'Can't Take My Eyes Off You' lyrics on her EarPod/MPwhatdyamacallit during Jase's funeral episode last October.
This time, Garry (Ricky Groves) gets the incidental treatment next Tuesday as he's reflecting on his life on a bench in the park listening to his MP3 player - Dawn (Kara Tointon) apparently told him he doesn't listen to enough music.
Convinced that his relationship with Dawn is over, he sits listening to Bonnie Raitt's classic 'I Can't Make You Love Me'. Aww.
Meanwhile, over on Coronation Street, Joe McIntyre listens to Lily Allen's 'LDN' in the first scene of next Friday's 7.30pm Simon Crowther episode.
Then, just before the first ad break, Joe sits in his van contemplating breaking into the medical centre while listening to The Smiths' 'Please, Please, Please Let Me Get What I Want'.
It's refreshing to see Coronation Street slotting in commercial tracks where they work and fit into stories.
