From one dream job to another

So this is it, it's finally here - my last day at Digital Spy.

Seven years on, I never could have imagined that DS would become the massive success it has.

I started writing for the site just over seven years ago as a Big Brother 4 reporter and soon after was handed the responsibility for the soaps section. From there, the rest was history.

And as a massive soap fan, it's been the perfect job.

Over the years, DS has grown beyond all of our wildest expectations - nobody ever thought that the once-bedroom business would become the juggernaut it has and I'm proud to have played a significant part in its development.

I've been afforded some amazing opportunities, from set visits to award ceremonies and have met some of the most dedicated people in the television industry.

Soapland is relentless - and it's only when you take a peek behind the scenes that you realise just how much work actually goes into making the nation's most-loved programmes.

From cast to production teams and especially press offices, I'd like to thank you all for your support - the soaps section couldn't have become what it has without you.

The lively forums and forum members have provided me hours of entertainment - and they, too, are the most dedicated soap fans in the land.

And a final thanks must go my DS colleagues, especially Neil Wilkes and James Welsh for giving me the opportunity from the outset.

I'm headed from one dream job to the next as I prepare to start work at EastEnders as part of the new storylining team. It'll be sad to leave DS after so long but I can't wait to get started.

You'll see my name across DS for at least the next couple of weeks as my final few weeks of content filters through. Daniel Kilkelly will be stepping into my shoes from the middle of next week.

Keep enjoying the soaps!
