Week 41

Published Saturday, Oct 29 2005, 18:19 BST | By Kris Green | 54 comments

We have two results for the price of one this week – our normal Corner, which was Week 39, and our Neighbours’ special that became Week 40, complete with prizes.

To keep us on an even keel, and so that I confuse neither you nor myself, we’ll do it in chronological order, starting, therefore, with Week 39, the scene from Coronation Street, showing Shelley handing over her wedding dress to Cilla while Les and Bev look on.

A variation on the something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue wedding line came from Adam Cooper, of Northamptonshire, who suggested: From left - Something old, something blue, something borrowed, something rude.

Over in Wigan, Paul Nolan thought Cilla might be asking: “Is it a one size fits all???? while in Sunderland, Suzanne Maughan thought she might be side-mouthing: “Just keep smiling - I wouldn't be seen dead in this dress either!???

Robert Tipping, of Middlesex, had several offerings for us, but ought to get a special prize for ingenuity with one of them.

He had Status Quo fan Les saying: “WHATEVER YOU WANT Cilla! because you are a LITTLE LADY, but when we go DOWN DOWN to the church on the day I won't HOLD YOU BACK but if you BREAK THE RULES I take a PAPER PLANE and start LIVING ON AN ISLAND having a MARGUERITA TIME AND FUN FUN FUN!???

Very clever, that, Robert – and as an added bonus I am also awarding you third prize for one of your other offerings, this time audacious Cilla asking: “If we don't get married, Les, what do you think we could get for it if we put it on the Ebay website then????

Right, he we go with the runner-up for Week 39 – yes, it’s our old friend Peter Benassi, from Motherwell, who had cheeky Cilla inquiring: “You didn't happen to keep your cake an' all, by any chance, did ya?"

So here we are with the winner – Jo Kilcourse, in Spain, who reckoned Les was probably saying: “God, Bev, I’ve never noticed before, but you’re the spitting image of Rick Parfitt! Do ya fancy playing at the wedding????

Excellent, Jo – you can just hear Les saying that, can’t you!

OK, let’s move on to Week 40, with our Neighbours’ picture that showed Lance returning to Erinsborough only to find Toadie had replaced him as his best friend.

Not surprisingly, there were many entries on the Star Wars theme, more specifically with the “I am your father??? line. Needless to say, that one ruled out by way of repetition.

Joff Hopkins, of Reading, went with Lance got ready to arm his light sabre, just in case the Ramsey Street Staring Competition got nasty...

Sam, down in Bournemouth, had Toadie saying: "You really are my man in shining armour!" while another of our readers in Spain, Annmarie Lloyd, had Lance threatening: "I'm gonna shove this where the sun don't shine mate" and Todie asking: “Where England????

Over in Ireland, Glyn Dolan, of Dublin, reckoned Toadie could be saying: “I feel ur presents, but you can’t open them until Christmas Day,??? and Linsey Flatman, in Lincoln, came up with: “Dressed like Darth Vader’s poor relation you wonder why I wanna keep my distance.???

Right, it’s prize time.

You will recall that I’m giving away a Neighbours board game and ‘Neighbours: Defining Moments’ DVD to the winner and a Neighbours annual to both the second and third prize winners.

Well, Ben Tyler, (who failed to submit his town!) and Chubbler, of Ipswich, will both have a little light reading ahead of them after their entries came third and second respectively.

Ben had Lance warning: "Now, I'm not going to lie to you, Toadie, this is going to hurt," while Chubbler offered us “I see Batman’s new friend, Binman, is back in town.???

Which just leaves our winner, Neil Collins, of Durham, who will be receiving the board game and DVD.

With apologies to old-time American actress Mae West, Neil gave us Toadie uttering: "Is that a light sabre, or are you just pleased to see me?!"

Wonderful, Neil – enjoy ytour prizes.

Congratulations to our winners and thanks to everyone who joined in the fun.

So it’s on to Week 41, for which we have a picture from The Bill where a deeply suspicious Sheelagh confronts Gabriel after frantically searching through his pockets trying to discover his true identity...

And to tie in with the cop theme, I have three copies of The Bill: Complete Series 2 to give away - one for the winner and two for our runners-up - courtesy of our friends at Network DVD

REMEMBER – please give your full name, home town and e-mail address on the entry form. These will be used in this column when the results are announced in Week 42. In accordance with our privacy policy, your information will not be used for any other purpose.

Good luck!
