Definitive Corrie quit list

Published Thursday, Mar 16 2006, 15:04 GMT | By Kris Green | 10 comments
There has been an abundance of speculation regarding who has and hasn't quit Coronation Street. Here is the definitive - and confirmed - run down of the characters who will soon be leaving Weatherfield for good.

Ray Fearon (Nathan)
Susie Blake (Bev)
Ian Redford (Keith)
Eric Potts (Diggory)
Emma Stansfield (Ronnie)

As yet, no final filming or on-screen leaving dates have been confirmed for the above actors.

Sally Lindsay (Shelley) - is to leave the show (as already announced) in a few months' time.
Jane Danson (Leanne) - is to leave to go on maternity leave later this year.
John Savident (Fred) - has indicated his decision to leave the show and will leave our screens near the end of the this year or beginning of next.

Johnny Briggs (Mike) and Shobna Gulati (Sunita) have, obviously, already left the show.

In total, Corrie will lose three of its established character, four of its relative newcomers and temporarily lose one established character to pregnancy - all within months of each other.

I think yesterday's news that Kate Ford (Tracy), Bill Ward (Charlie) and Richard Fleeshman (Craig) have, indeed, signed new contracts with the soap is the best news Corrie fans have heard in a while.

The loss of all of the above actors is a terrible blow to the show and will evidently leave a gaping hole in the green room.

I'm sure, however, there'll be a fair few new signings announced over the next few weeks - maybe even the resurrection of Richard Hillman, perhaps??

Stay with DS for the latest.

It's a real shame to say goodbye to so many of these characters. Will miss them all.

Its sad Mike's leaving, the end of an era, we've watched him with loads of girlfriends and 4 wives. I think the corrie writers have handled his storyline very well. So long Mike!

Please get rid of Tracy and Charlie - two cardboard cutouts.

Can't the axe the awful Webster family, David and Sarah Platt?? Those characters are so bland and boring, oh and why on earth do they think we care about Charlie and Richard Hillman? Both are lame pantomime villians.

The newer characters going will leave no dent in the Street. Fred going will be a blessing but very sorry Shobna has gone and Sally is going, two lovely characters.

With Keith and Diggory to leave, What will happen to Craig and Molly? They are not leaving, but where will Craig go? Move in with Sally?

Sorry to see Fred, Bev, Nathan, Mike and Leanne go! Terrible news about Tracy and Charlie staying!

I think to lose well established characters such as Mike Baldwin and Fred is such a pity. They are well liked by the Corrie fans. Why not get rid of the insignificant ones like Leanne who really doesn't add much to the storylines and Tracy's character is getting really boring. I think everyone would like to see the back of her now. Lets not end up with a Street full of young bitchy women all trying to outdo each other that would be really boring.
