British Soap Awards 2012 voting opens, nominations revealed

The first round of viewer voting for the British Soap Awards 2012 has opened today (February 27), giving fans the chance to have their say on the highlights of the past year.

The viewer-voted categories are 'Sexiest Male', 'Sexiest Female', 'Villain of the Year', 'Best Actor', 'Best Actress' and 'Best British Soap'.

As was the case last year, the first five categories contain three nominees from each of the UK soaps - Coronation Street, Doctors, EastEnders, Emmerdale and Hollyoaks. Additionally, all five shows secure an automatic nomination for the 'Best British Soap' prize.

First round voting will close on Monday, April 2 at 3pm. Second round voting for the final shortlist will then open on Thursday, April 5 before closing on Friday, April 27 at 3pm.
