Strictly Come Dancing star Dennis Taylor has criticised the show's judges for being too cruel.

The snooker legend is unhappy that the contestants are being treated like professionals instead of amateurs, and has challenged the experts to impress him in a snooker match after just one week of lessons.

"What has knocked me for six about this show is the criticism from the judges," he told the Daily Star. "There's criticism - and then there's being nasty.

"What I'm going to do with Craig Revel Horwood is buy him a cue and see what he can do with that in five days."

A source on the programme insisted, "The judges are professional choreographers and they judge the performances on merit, regardless of whether the stars are amateurs or not."
