'Dancing With The Stars' winner revealed

Spice Girl Melanie Brown came second in the Dancing With The Stars final last night with dance partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy.

The singer won with the judges' votes, but she lost out on the winning place to Brazilian racing driver Helio Castroneves with the public vote, which counted for 50%.

During the final, Mel B said that winning would mean "everything" to her, saying: "To be embraced by America, would be... I would actually be speechless.

"Me and Maks have come so far. We are not prepared to throw it all away. We have to win it for all those people that have been voting for us."

She added: "I've had so much fun, everyone's so cool here. It's been an amazing journey.

"Coming in second or third is not an option for me. I like to start something and finish it right on top."

But when the final results were called Mel insisted she had "enjoyed all of it".

The third contestant in the final, Marie Osmond, was voted off first at the beginning of the programme.

Brown scored a perfect ten from all three judges when she performed her chosen dance the Mambo.

Judge Len Goodman told the Spice Girl that she was the "most versatile dancer" he had ever seen on the show, while fellow judge Bruno Tonioli said: "What can I say, truly magnificent. You really have proven you're the complete dancer.

"But not only that. Your determination, your professionalism, and your good humour is a credit to you. You're a star."

All four Spice Girls sat in the audience to give their support.
