After a controversial week which saw the departure of John Sergeant and partner Kristina Rihanoff, the remaining Strictly Come Dancing contestants took to the floor in the hope of making it through to the final five.

Here's what the judges had to say:

Lisa and Brendan - Quickstep

Len: "I was a little bit concerned, for no reason, just in my head. For the Quickstep, you've got to keep this lovely posture [on the top half of the body], but down below it's all going on. I thought you managed that beautifully. It had great movement. I thought it was very, very good. Well done." [9]

Bruno: "From the bottom two, you've come back and delivered a top, vintage Quickstep. Amazing choreography, performed with assurance. Classy, elegant, I can't believe how beautiful you look." [9]

Craig: "I think that Quickstep actually has the potential of being perfect. It wasn't, however, tonight, but it does have the potential." [8]

Arlene: "Full of fancy footwork, you gave Brendan a run for his money. Can you two go away and practice some hip-to-hip contact?" [9]

Christine and Matthew - Cha Cha Cha

Bruno: "The Cha Cha Cha has a vibrant, lively feel and should really suit you 100%. Somehow, I felt you didn't engage in the dance as much as I would have liked. Sometimes, you lost your footing a little bit, and your hip action went a little bit on the wiry side, but the top was correct. You've got to work more on the hips." [7]

Craig: "Disappointing, I'm afraid. Very wooden, very sticky. I would like to see a little bit more dynamic in it. However, on a brighter note, there were some really wonderful finishes, which were sort of crowdpleasers, which saved a little bit of it. Not your finest moment." [6]

Alene: "This song is about the Latin beat, it's about your feet on the floor. You need to feel the rhythm and connect to the song. You weren't connecting with it, you weren't feeling it." [6]

Len: "What a load of piffle! Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I thought it was neat, I thought it was precise, it was clean. You've got to sell it more. Rip off your knickers and throw them in the air!" [8]

Total - 27

Jodie and Ian - Jive

Craig: "For a gargantuan couple, I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by that. I thought it was a really, really confident and tight performance. At times, though, a little bit heavy, but very well done." [7]

Arlene: "Jodie, I never thought I'd see the day where you would come out and perform like a great actress. But there's a dancing trophy at stake here, and those kicks and flicks have got to be sharper." [7]

Len: "If one thing's for sure, you did those kicks beautifully. I know Jodie's been ill, and it's been a tough week, but well done." [8]

Bruno: "I am really surprised. I was expecting this to be a big marshmallow of a dance. But you were sharp, you were on time. So you should be proud!" [8]

Tom and Camilla - Tango

Arlene: "It had drive, it had passion, it was a gripping tale of a Tango!" [9]

Len: "You did get all that drama. I would advise that in the ballroom [dances] your body leads the girl and you tend to use just your arms to lead her. But let me say I thought it was fantastic." [9]

Bruno: "Talk about arrogance, that was disdainful. A lot of intensity, but a bit more refining and then you'll get that championship." [9]

Craig: "I thought it was very, very good. I absolutely loved it. The only thing I thought it did lack was just a couple of moments of stillness." [9]

Total - 36

Rachel and Vincent - Foxtrot

Len: "A few weeks ago in the Jive, I said: 'If you can't knock my socks off with a Jive, you never will.' Ever since then, you've done nothing but knock my socks off." [10]

Bruno: "This dance was not close to you, it was close to heaven! Bliss!" [10]

Craig: "One word: Fabulous!" [10]

Arlene: "Close to perfect. Strictly something special." [10]

Total - 40

Austin and Erin - Cha Cha Cha

Bruno: "You squeezed every bit of entertainment value out of the Cha Cha Cha. You're going to be hired by the Chippendales!" [9]

Craig: "That is one of the cheekiest Cha Cha Chas I've ever seen. Little square of hip for my liking, but brilliant." [8]

Arlene: "This dance is about interplay between the couples and there was lots of that. It was great, it was cheeky, it was naughty, the hips were moving, but you've got very timid arms." [9]

Len: "I enjoyed it very much. I've had enough of this!" [9]
