Professional dancer Kristina Rihanoff has defended Alesha Dixon's appointment on Strictly Come Dancing, arguing that the popstar will bring a new "vibrancy" to the show.
Rihanoff, who partnered John Sergeant last year, said that it was sad to lose the expertise of Arlene Phillips from the judging panel, but gave her backing to the young replacement.
"I'm sad that Arlene left because she was very, very knowledgeable," said the Russian. "But at the same time, I know that as a TV show you have to change things once in a while.
"Alesha is a beautiful girl and she's totally stunning. She has an amazing personality, she's vibrant and she will bring something totally new to the show. I'm looking forward to having her."
Meanwhile, the 31-year-old also said that she is excited about working with her new celebrity partner, boxer Joe Calzaghe.
"John [Sergeant] was good in his own way and he tried his best. He brought his own personality to the show and I truly believe you have to have people like John on Strictly. But this time, I have the best boy on my hands," she said.
"He is the best guy I could work with and I'm so excited about the hard work ahead. He's got the same competitive spirit as me."
Strictly returns on Friday, September 18 to BBC One.
