The second show of Strictly Come Dancing saw the first eight celebrities perform either the Rumba or the Cha Cha Cha.

Here's what the judges had to say:

Jade Johnson and Ian Waite

Len: (7) "Jade, I had a good look round you tonight. I'm afraid your feet are a little bit flat, but your legs are strong. On occasion your posture is more bent than a politician's expenses! But overall it was fun and enjoyable to watch."

Alesha: (7) "This really suits you. You had personality in abundance, I think you did a great job. Occasionally your arms are a bit throwaway, and you need to control them, but you had excellent rhythm. It was an excellent way to start the show."

Bruno: (7) "You are fit! Those legs could crack walnuts, I'm jealous. You cranked up your performance, you had a good time, we had a good time. It was nasty and naughty and I love it. It's not perfect, you need to watch your arms, but overall I enjoyed it."

Craig: (6) "You need to go up on your toes a little more, your legs need to be a little bit straighter, you have pigeon toes that you need to turn out for Latin... on a positive note, that was a great split at the end and a fantastic body roll. You're full of exuberance and energy and you really brought that to the fore."

Total: 27

Ali Bastian and Brian Fortuna

Len: (7) "For me there was a lot of posing and posturing going on. I would have liked to have seen a little bit more dancing in it. Saying that, you danced two dances, tonight and last night, and on those two performances you deserve to be back next time."

Alesha: (8) "You're simply stunning to watch. You're one of the most beautiful dancers I've ever seen. Your lines are beautiful. If I was to be a little more picky I'd like a bit more hip action, but you're beautiful to watch. You nailed it."

Bruno: (8) "Have you got any idea how amazing you could be? Moments in there were absolutely exquisite. You have to hold it all the way through, at the moment you're shaking a little bit. When you take turns and pull up don't let go, because you're slightly off balance. But you could be one of the best dancers we've ever had."

Craig: (7) "I have to completely disagree with Len, I absolutely loved all the posing and posturing. It made it in my opinion. I had a few issues with it, a few balance issues. I would like more rotation in your hips, but you hit some formidable shapes. It was confident, controlled. Well done."

Lynda Bellingham and Darren Bennett

Alesha: (6) "What I love about you is you always bring the spirit to the dance. You have great enthusiasm. If I'm being honest I think I preferred yesterday's dance, but taking into consideration you had to learn two this week, you've really impressed me."

Bruno: (6) "It was like watching Carry On Strictly Matron! It was funny, it was playful. You did it well, but you lost your footwork. That's very evident in this dance. There was no hip action, but you do play it. You have a good time and I have a good time with you."

Craig: (5) "For me it was very neat, precise, sharp and as Bruno said completely void of hip action. It's a terrible shame about the timing, because I thought your personality in this dance really shone through. For me it was a vast improvement on yesterday."

Len: (6) "I thoroughly enjoyed it. You're out here to entertain and entertain us you did. Well done."

Total: 23

Rav Wilding and Aliona Vilani

Bruno: (7) "You're the image of a smouldering hunk. Yesterday you were all over the place, today you had control. You tried to hit all the positions cleanly and tried to give a focused performance. You could do a little bit more dancing, but I can see improvement there. I'd like to have you back."

Craig: (4) "It was awkward and unnatural and for Len talking about posturing, Aliona did all the work in that routine. The only thing that I thought was any good were the filth-ridden gyrations."

Len: (6) "That's a very, very difficult dance for the male celebrities to do. If you're not careful you go all soft and feminine. The other way is too hard and aggressive. To get the feeling of the rumba correct is very difficult, and by and large I thought you pitched that about right. It's got to be a partnership, and there was a lot of posturing with you flatulating around her."

Alesha: (5) "I kind of agree with Len, but there was some hip action and seductive eyes. You had sensuality but there were some weird eyes going on. I'm in the middle on this one, Rav."

Total: 22

Chris Hollins and Ola Jordan

Craig: (7) "That was actually rather brilliant. Fantastic storytelling, and that's so important. There's a real emotional connection between you and Ola, there was nice gentle hip action, your pivot was really, really strong. However, these fingers have either got to be cut off or changed."

Len: (8): "It was good, Chris. You've had two tough dances. With the tango you've got to keep your knees flexed, and with the rumba you've got to keep your legs straight. Craig's right - these [fingers] were bad last night but I didn't want to upset you. You've got to get a masculine hand, sellotape them up."

Alesha: (7) "Ola, you look amazing. You showcase Chris really well. Chris, you move Ola around effortlessly. It was very controlled. A great performance."

Bruno: (8) "Chris, you're a dancer and that proved it. Ola has done a fantastic job using all of his best abilities. Excellent."

Joe Calzaghe and Kristina Rihanoff

Len: (5) "After last night and the stinging blows you got from us judges, you've come back like a boxer and given us a proper perfomance. The problem with this show is it's all about us comparing each couple. At the moment you're not right up there but I think you've got so much potential. It's like flowers, some bloom early and some take a little longer. I think you're a slow bloomer."

Alesha: (5) "On a positive note, yesterday I said more personality and you were smiling. I know that boxing is not traditionally Cha Cha but it was good you showed personality."

Bruno: (4) "That was good. The rest was terrible. The footwork was very poor, there was no hip action, no sense of rhythm. You've got to listen to the music. If you stay in the competition, you've really got to count."

Craig: (2) "I do have two words. Rigor mortis."

Total: 16

Martina Hingis and Matthew Cutler

Alesha: (7) "Martina, I think you really need to work on controlling your arms a bit more. For me they're a bit flyaway, but you have a soft quality about the way you dance. There was a sensuality you brought to that, it was lovely. And it feels really genuine, the connection between you."

Bruno: (6) "Martina, you can hit sometimes on beautiful shapes but you lose it in transition. You have to carry that through. Your foot goes all over the place, your hip action is lost, but the potential is there. Stay focused and work on that."

Craig: (5) "I liked the routine very much Matt. I agree with Bruno, the transitions between all the steps are very blocky, very square. You're very flat-footed, which exacerbates the leavenness of it. But it was a nice ronde and I thought your handshaping was absolutely gorgeous."

Len: (6) "As I said in your ballroom dance, you lack toning. You've got to get more tone in your legs, arms and body. But it was very nice to watch and well done."

Total: 24

Ricky Groves and Erin Boag

Bruno: (6) "Ricky, did you have rocket fuel for lunch? There was steam coming out of your ears, your mouth looked like you were swallowing a golfball, you looked mad. I must tell you, that's the way to go. Forget about the technique, that was fun."

Craig: (6) "That mouth of yours could have netted a whale, it was so open. But awkward as the whole thing was, you gave it welly and attacked it. You danced the spirit of that dance brilliantly."

Len: (7) "It's the first week, we know it's not going to be perfect. What you did is come out and give it a really good go. You were smiling from start to finish. You messed up, but I didn't care. I thoroughly enjoyed it and for me it was better than last night."

Alesha: (7) "The most entertaining dance of the night, by far. And he's wearing pink. He should get points for wearing pink."
