Richard Gere is being lined up to make a guest appearance on Strictly Come Dancing, a report has claimed.
Producers have reportedly approached the Pretty Woman actor to take part in a one-off performance with the show's professional dancer Katya Virshilas. The pair previously worked together on 2004 film Shall We Dance.
The rumours follow claims that BBC bosses are worried about Strictly losing out to its ITV rival The X Factor in the Saturday night ratings battle.
A source told The Sun: "ITV is hammering the show in the ratings, so bosses think getting some high-profile names on will do the trick. Mariah Carey and Pamela Anderson are also being lined up."
Representatives for Strictly would not comment directly on Gere, but confirmed that talks are ongoing with a number of celebrities.
