Du Beke surprised by 'Strictly' scoring

Anton Du Beke and Laila Rouass have claimed that they were disappointed by the judges' scores on last Saturday's Strictly Come Dancing.

The Footballers' Wives star scored 30 points for her paso doble at Blackpool. However, judge Len Goodman took marks off for an illegal lift, while Craig Revel Horwood said that the duo lacked "any real connection".

Du Beke said that he was surprised by their score, confessing that he was not sure what more Rouass could have done in her routine.

"I don't know why it wasn't marked as highly as I thought it might be. It was the same with our Viennese waltz," he told It Takes Two. "I'm just not sure what else Laila could have done to make the paso doble better.

"I thought it was intense, I thought it was dramatic, I thought it was clean. I thought technically speaking it was very good."

Rouass added: "Len said that it was my best mark to date and that he was going to knock a mark off because of the lift, so he gave us a seven. But the highest mark he has given us has been a nine. So really he should have given us an eight, if he did think it was our best dance so far."

Joking about their use of lifts in the routine, the actress said: "It's good to be a bit naughty every now and again."

Rouass and Du Beke also revealed that they would be dancing a rumba on this Saturday's show, which airs at 6.50pm on BBC One.
