In June 2012, Apple rival Google announced the launch of the Nexus 7 tablet, developed in conjunction with tech giants Asus. The budget tablet was the first device to feature the latest Android OS release version 4.1 (Jelly Bean). Priced at just $249 (£199) for the 16GB model, the Nexus 7 boasts a Tegra 3 CPU, 1280x800 pixel resolution and Siri competition with personal assistant technology Google Now.
