In June 2011, Samsung announced a follow-up to the first Samsung Galaxy Tab in the form of a 10.1" model. The size increase helped place Samsung as a competitor to the iPad in the top end region of the tablet market. The device featured Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich and top end technical specifications such as a dual-core Tegra 2 processor and 1GB of memory.
