Sky+ users get software update

Users of the original Pace Sky+ box discovered this morning (Wednesday 16th) that a new software release had been downloaded to them overnight.
According to sources withwhom Digital Spy have spoken, this update adds no new consumer-facing features but does help Sky deliver better functionality in the form of more robust Series Links.
The update modifies Series Links so that they (a) are maintained in the event that a scheduled recording does not occur (most often due to a clash), and (b) can be set to bridge gaps in a schedule (e.g. if a series takes a week off, the next linked episode will appear in the Planner when it populates in the schedule).
In addition, Sky's backend systems now provide tools to allow broadcasters to take advantage of this enhanced ability for the STBs ability to process and store series links.
According to our sources this latest release does not affect the launch date of the Dual Recording functionality.
