Emap Performance is delighted to announce that the award-winning Q, is to become its third successive hero brand in as many months.

From October 2, 2000, all the class, all the irreverence and all the best reviews and performances will be available through Q television.

Q television will run on a format similar to Emap Performance's two other market-leading channels, Kiss TV and The Box, which enable viewers to choose videos from a specially selected playlist. The videos will be complemented by a series of short-form programmes, in keeping with Q's identity. These include:
  • Q&A - a celebrity interview, based on "Cash for Questions" inside Q magazine, where celebrity musicians answer a series of questions, asked by the viewers
  • Q rated - the world famous reviews that the Q brand is recognised for, of new and re-released albums
  • On Q - a series of promos of current and upcoming selections available on Q television
  • The Essential Dozen - 12 of the best, a programme broadcasting the top twelve of a variety of subjects, from rock videos, to the twelve best dressed women songstrels
The launch of QTV will be supported by an advertising campaign created by Mother.

Simultaneously, Emap Performance will develop Q as a digital radio station to form a number of applications that Emap will submit, to build a digital radio network across the UK. Q will broadcast music radio for grownups.

Q television will also have exclusive backstage and broadcast access to the world famous QAwards, in November.

Tim Schoonmaker, Chief Executive of Emap Performance, says:

"As Emap Performance has shown so recently with Smash Hits, we are committed to ensuring that our audience can receive their favourite media in every way possible. Q is a world famous brand, known for inspiring a fiercely loyal readership, and in the future, its audience will never be far from their favourite music."
