Nuts TV to quit Sky

Nuts TV will cease broadcasting on digital satellite early next year, it has been confirmed.
Yesterday, Turner Broadcasting announced that Nuts TV's 9pm to 1am slot on Freeview would be taken over by CNN International. Today, Turner - which developed Nuts TV under licence from IPC - confirmed the channel would also disappear from satellite in January.
"In an increasingly crowded TV market for this demographic, it's vital that TBS and IPC play to our respective strengths," said TBS senior vice president and general manager Dee Forbes. "And for Nuts TV the future is in the fast-growing world of online. Having already attracted large communities within its social networking sites, it makes sense for Nuts TV to continue in this vein."
Nuts TV will be run as a broadband channel on the magazine's website.
"Nuts already holds market-leading positions in print and online, and in evaluating Nuts TV we've taken the view that further expansion online is the most effective way to reach our audience of young men," said IPC Ignite managing director Eric Fuller. "At the same time this decision allows both our businesses to align our strategic aims with our investment priorities for the best short, medium and long term returns."
