Aussie Gold widens remit

Aussie Gold is to show " a whole host" of general entertainment programming when it launches this December.
Having originally planned to show just soaps and drama, the station has now took the decision to feature a wide range of shows in its schedule, including including mini-series, telemovies, films, sitcoms, children's drama, lifestyle programming, documentaries and reality shows.
Elsewhere, the channel has also announced proposals to help the growth of Australian companies in the UK.
"Alan Huggett is a member of the consortium behind the channel," programming director Darren Gray told Digital Spy. "Alan has a very successful distribution and marketing company and will offer UK distribution of goods and services to Australian companies who do not currently have these systems in place over here."
The announcement follows last week's news that Aussie Gold will only air Australian commercials.
Gray continued: "We will also welcome advertisers whose products are already available in the UK of course, but should non-Australian corporations wish to promote their products on Aussie Gold, they will only be allowed to run the Australian versions of their commercials. We are very happy to screen current or archive commercials from the past as we believe that our viewers will find these far more interesting and appealing than the usual British adverts."
