Directgov, the government's digital access service, has launched on Freeview.
The digital terrestrial service, which may be found on channel 106, was developed in partnership with Teletext. Select elements of the service are also available on page 750 on Teletext's ITV and Channel 4 services.
"We are delighted to be able to open up our services to Teletext users on Freeview," said Directgov chief executive Jayne Nickalls. "We have ambitious goals, and despite already achieving 11 million visits per month online, we know that there are many more people who could benefit from Directgov’s services and information provided in this way."
The service is already available on digital cable and satellite, and online.
"Teletext is very pleased to be working with Directgov," said Teletext managing director Neil Johnson. "We believe in giving our customers concise, up-to-the-minute information which is relevant to their lives. Whether that be in things that they are passionate about, like sport or entertainment, or things that they need to know, like the news or finance information, Teletext has always provided this is to a mass TV audience. Our partnership with Directgov is entirely consistent with this vision.”
