Ofcom has awarded Channel M a licence to operate a local digital TV multiplex in Manchester.
The channel, which is operated by the Manchester Evening News, already broadcasts to Manchester on analogue terrestrial and Virgin Media digital cable, and is available nationally on digital satellite.
Ofcom launched the local digital TV licence auction process last month, with 8MHz blocks of spectrum made available for low power transmission. Later this month, Ofcom plans to award a licence for Cardiff.
