Sky secures fifth Premier League package

Sky has secured the live television rights to a fifth package of Premier League matches, having successfully snatched it away from Setanta.
The broadcaster now holds the rights to live coverage of 115 matches in each of the 2010-11, 2011-12 and 2012-13 seasons. It won the bidding for a collection of four packages on Wednesday.
"We are very pleased with this result," said Sky chief executive Jeremy Darroch. "It gives us certainty for the future and ensures that we can continue to offer our viewers the best live Premier League football."
Sky has paid £1.6bn for the five packages.
"This is great news for football and for fans," said Vic Wakeling, managing director of Sky Sports. "We can offer the big games and a balance of coverage with all 20 clubs live each season - and all in HD. And with new deals for UEFA Champions League and the Football League, plus a range of other games, we can promise over 400 live matches for the next four seasons."
Today's deal leaves Setanta with only a single package of 23 matches across the three seasons, for which it paid £159m.
