ntl consults on video-on-demand services
Published Sunday, Jun 6 2004, 21:26 BST | By James Welsh

Information posted on the Digital Spy forums was sent out by a consultancy firm on behalf of ntl and contains information on services that the cable operator is looking at launching.
Highlights from the document include a Movies on Demand service, priced at £3.50 for a recently-released film or £1.99 for older movies. The service would also be available on a monthly subscription basis at around £8/mo on top of the Family Pack.
Other planned services include "TV Plus", again available for a monthly subscription, and "Catch-Up TV." These services would offer a variety of TV programmes from major broadcasters.
The advantage of VOD over so-called Near Video-on-Demand (NVOD) services such as Front Row is that subscribers are able to pause, rewind, and fast-forward the programme they are watching like a DVD.
