Orange may buy Kangaroo technology

Orange is seeking to buy the technology developed by the BBC, ITV and Channel 4 for commercial video on demand venture Kangaroo, it has emerged.
Kangaroo was blocked by the Competition Commission in February after concluding that it would damage competition in the UK's wholesale and retail video on demand markets. It is thought that each of the joint venture partners is interested in finding a way to claw back some of the £20m invested in Kangaroo's technology platform.
Orange is thought to be interested in acquiring the Kangaroo platform for use on its Orange TV service in France and potentially other territories across Europe.
"We are examining this company and we see of course that it could be interesting," said a spokesperson for France Telecom, which owns Orange. "Nothing has been decided but we can confirm we are examining it."
