Analogue BBC Two and the existing low-power digital broadcasts of BBC services were switched off at the main Beacon Hill transmitter and its 23 relays on Wednesday to permit new high-power broadcasts of the BBC's digital public service multiplex to commence.
BBC One, ITV1 and Channel 4 will continue to broadcast in analogue, subject to occasional breaks in service, until April 22 when all remaining analogue terrestrial television broadcasts from the transmitter group will be terminated to permit high-power broadcasts of all digital multiplexes to begin.
