ITV HD screen res 'soon back to normal'

ITV HD is currently available exclusively on Freesat as a red button-only service, although the broadcaster also recently started test transmissions in preparation for the launch of a high definition simulcast of the channel on Freeview.
However, as indentified on Digital Spy's Freesat forum, the ITV HD service currently being broadcast on Freesat has reduced from 1440x1088 screen resolution to 960x1088.
This reduction in resolution was criticised on the forum, with some members submitting complaints to the broadcaster.
In response to this issue, ITV told DS that the temporary change in resolution was the result of routine maintenance on an encoder which adversely affected the configuration.
This work is expected to reach conclusion "very shortly", meaning that the screen resolution will revert back to normal either today or tomorrow.
