Available now, the Eurosport Player app enables owners of Apple's iPhone or iPod Touch to watch live action and highlights from both channels, including coverage from the current Vancouver Winter Olympic Games.
Over 2010, the app will also enable mobile users to watch French Open tennis, the Tour de France, MotoGP and the World Touring Car Championships while on the move.
Users in the UK and Republic of Ireland can download the Eurosport Player for free from the App store or via iTunes, but will need to pay either £2.39 a month or £23.99 a year to access the content. The player will operate either via 3G or WiFi networks.
"Sport is the perfect genre to enjoy through this exciting functionality, enabling fans to watch their favourite sporting events wherever they are, ensuring they never miss a second of the action," said Eurosport Group chairman Laurent-Eric Le Lay.
"This new app launch will further reinforce Eurosport's presence in the online community, making the best sport entertainment more accessible than ever. Having the Vancouver Winter Olympics live in your hand will inspire all sports fans."
Last year, Sky enabled iPhone users to watch live Premier League matches on the go after launching its Sky Mobile TV platform on the device.
