Sony has confirmed plans to stream classic content from the history of the FIFA World Cup on IP-enabled Bravia TVs and Blu-ray players in Europe.

From late-May, the consumer electronics giant will launch a range of archived content from the football showpiece on its Bravia Internet Video platform.

Available content will include the top 20 moments from 76 years of the World Cup, along with several films and player profiles.

The Bravia Internet Video platform enables users to access television catch-up services from the major broadcasters, including Demand Five, along with internet resources such as LoveFilm, YouTube and Facebook.

"We are very excited to offer a catalogue of the FIFA World Cup collection to consumers in time for the 2010 FIFA World Cup," said Sony UK marketing manager Christian Brown.

"Thanks to Bravia Internet Video and our partnership with FIFA, we can make some of the greatest football moments come to life in consumers' living rooms across Europe at the touch of a button."

Sony's partnership with FIFA will also involve the company filming 25 games from the 2010 World Cup in 3D.
