Telewest 'planning Premiership bid'

Telewest is planning to partner with Setanta to make a joint bid for the broadcast rights to the Premiership, The Observer reported today.
The cable company is expected to take a stake in the Irish sports broadcaster before making the bid next year.
Sky currently owns the rights to the games as part of a contract worth £1 billion, which is due to expire in 2008.
In an effort to break Sky's monopoly, the European competition commission has ordered that the Premiership split the rights up into several smaller packages and sell them off to different broadcasters.
