Sky subscribers up to 7.8 million

BSkyB has claimed "record levels" of profit in its latest financial results, announced this morning.
The company reported an 11% increase in turnover to £4 billion for the twelve months ended June 30, with profit after tax up 32% to £425 million.
Digital subscribers rose 83,000 in the quarter to 7.79 million, keeping roughly on target for 8 million by the end of the calendar year. Churn stood at 10.5%, down from the previous quarter's 11.1% but slightly short of the company's 10% target.
Sky+ households were up by a more impressive 118,000 to 888,000 while multiroom households increased by 82,000 to 645,000.
"The team delivered a set of results this year that demonstrates the health of our business and the strong position that the Company occupies in this rapidly evolving marketplace," said James Murdoch, CEO.
"We remain focused on providing the leading entertainment service in the UK and Ireland that continues to meet the changing needs of our customers and their families, offering great value and world-beating quality.
