First-round Flextech bids "submitted"

The first round of bids for Telewest content division Flextech have been submitted, Reuters reported on Friday.
The news service, citing unnamed "sources familiar with the situation," said that bids were submitted by British and international media groups for the three component parts of Flextech: Flextech's completely owned-and-operated channels, the recently acquired Sit-Up TV operation, and the UKTV joint venture with BBC Worldwide.
It is still not clear if the bidding process will actually result in a sale or whether this process is a value-building exercise ahead of Telewest's merger with NTL.
