The free app, available this Friday, features lead Channel 4 News presenter Jon Snow's daily Snowblog, Cathy Newman's FactCheck and the World News Blog.
Catch-up videos from the last seven days of Channel 4 News will be available via Wi-Fi and 3G, while there is also functionality for using the app offline.
The app will be at first only available on Apple's mobile devices, but Channel 4 said that it is currently working on a version for devices running the Google Android operating system.
Discussing the app, Snow said: "It's amazing - now you can get everything you need from us at the flick of a finger. The journalists you trust, the news and analysis you need, the best of Channel 4 News delivered direct to your tablet or phone. Take us with you, wherever you go!"
The app is the latest in a series of digital innovations from Channel 4 News, including last year's relaunch of the broadcaster's website featuring more in-depth special reports and live blogs.
Vicky Taylor, the commissioning editor of new media, news and current affairs at Channel 4 News, said: "This app embraces the best of Channel 4 News - and we want it to be as accessible as we can make it, so it will be completely free to download.
"We've adapted the blogs, analysis, picture content and daily news to work in mobile format in a way that will enable Channel 4 News fans to stay in touch with us throughout the day."
Paul Brannan, the recently-appointed senior programme editor online at Channel 4 News, added: "We know our audience, and in particular many of our website users, are very tech-savvy and increasingly, want to engage with Channel 4 News through social media and through their mobile devices.
"We're happy that this app will deliver that to them in a way that highlights the best of our original journalism."
