The free CNBC Real-Time App allows users to access the latest business and financial news and data from CNBC's TV and online platforms on their internet-connected televisions.
Key features of the service include video content such as interviews, market analysis and investor insights; real-time market data from the London Stock Exchange, NYSE, NASDAQ and Deutsche Börse; and a My Portfolio personalisation feature.
The app is available on a range of connected TV platforms, including Panasonic Viera Connect, Philips Net TV and Samsung Smart TV, as well as Virgin Media's new converged TV platform powered by TiVo. It is part of CNBC's multi-screen strategy that resulted in the launch of the NBC-owned broadcaster's first app for the iPad last December.
Justine Powell, CNBC's vice president of distribution (EMEA), said: "CNBC's Real-Time TV App is the latest tool in an unparalleled suite of digital products that makes the real-time data, news and analysis that investors care about, available to them across multiple platforms."
Cindy Rose, the executive director of digital entertainment at Virgin Media, added: "We're really pleased to be launching an app on our TiVo service from one of the most trusted names in finance.
"Whether it's a duvet day for a trader or someone keeping an eye on their personal investments, the CNBC app is a whole new way of keeping up to date with your own shares portfolio as well as the latest stock market news through your TV."
In May, CNBC launched a new Europe-focused edition of its website, offering live stock market data from exchanges across the continent.
