Dubbed the Motorola Atrix 2, the phone is largely the same as its predecessor, barring a few new features and tweaks.
The touchscreen phone is powered by a dual-core 1GHz processor and has 1GB of RAM, as well as 8GB internal memory and an eight megapixel camera.
But the new handset also switches the previous Nvidia Tegra 2 CPU for the TI OMAP, while the 4.3-inch screen is made sharper via a pentile pixel arrangement.
The Atrix 2 also comes with the Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) operating system, and has an upgraded Lapdock 100 system for using a full-screen display and keyboard.
Electronista reports that the phone features the updated Moto Blur overlay, bringing a more refined user interface with the same social networking integration.
"Motorola Atrix 2 is the smartphone that doubles as an entertainment centre," said Alain Mutricy, Motorola Mobility's senior vice president, product and portfolio management.
"With its large crystal clear qHD display, dual-core processor, full 1080p video capture and free ZumoCast app for music and pictures - all at a price within reach - Motorola Atrix 2 offers a great value for your money and an amazing entertainment experience."
The Atrix 2 will be released in the US in mid-October, but there has not been any confirmed announcement of a UK launch as yet.
