The Samsung Apps Store now offers more than 1,000 apps developed for the TV screen, ranging from online video to games to real-time news services such as BBC News.
Downloads from Samsung Apps TV have doubled over the past five months, after reaching 5m in May this year, with the current average of 50,000 downloads per day.
Online video apps remain the most downloaded services on the platform, with YouTube the most popular app in all territories around the world.
Guy Kinnell, the marketing director for TV at Samsung UK, said: "At Samsung, we are constantly looking for ways to improve our customers' viewing experience and to have doubled the number of downloads since May is testament to our commitment to providing Smart TV users with the best range of apps possible.
"Over the coming months, we will continue to seek partnerships with content providers to provide a vast range of apps so people will not only find an abundance of entertainment choices on their Smart TV but lifestyle too."
