NTL Telewest is developing a voice-over-IP residential telephone service and has appointed telecoms giant Ericsson to help roll it out.
A five year agreement has been signed between the two parties. NTL Telewest has already installed Ericsson's IMS platform and the system is currently being tested.
"NTL is already seeing the benefits from its investment in its network," said Jacqueline Hey, managing director for Ericsson in the UK. "We are delighted to have concluded this agreement which will see Ericsson technology introduced that will provide gains in both network running costs and efficiency."
