LoveFilm launches debut Android app

The app, available for free from the Android marketplace, gives Android users greater control over LoveFilm's library of 70,000 movies and TV shows on various devices.
Subscribers can access information on new and archive titles, as well as watch film trailers. The Android app follows already available versions for the iPhone and Nokia devices.
LoveFilm has expanded strongly onto digital platforms over the past year, including launches on Apple's iPad and the forthcoming debut on Microsoft's Xbox 360.
However, the Amazon-owned company will face its toughest test yet in early 2012 when US subscription movies giant Netflix expands into the UK and Ireland.
Netflix has already secured an exclusive digital streaming deal with MGM for the launch, and is rumoured for agreements with UK broadcasters ITV and Channel 4.
