ChangeWave Research, which conducted a study of 215 iPhone 4S owners, reported that 77% of participants are "very satisfied" with the iOS handset, while 19% are "somewhat satisfied".
Just 2% of those questioned claimed to be "unsatisfied" with the smartphone. The overall 96% satisfaction rating surpasses that of the iPhone 4, which scored 93% in ChangeWave's 2010 survey.
Siri, the iPhone 4S voice command software, was the feature that users claimed to be most pleased with. Its 8-megapixel camera and faster Web browsing also scored highly.
The iPhone 4S's battery issues are what users "dislike most" about the handset, with 38% listing them as its biggest drawback. The lack of 4G support and small screen were also cited as problematic by some.
Although call dropping was reported by some users, it was found to be a less significant issue with the iPhone 4S compared to the iPhone 4. The former saw a drop rate of 2.5% against its predecessor's 5.2%.
"In the current survey, nearly two-in-five iPhone 4S owners are using other wireless service providers - Verizon or Sprint - that have historically shown lower dropped call rates in our surveys than AT&T," read a statement from ChangeWave.
"The lower dropped call rate for the iPhone 4S in the current survey appears primarily attributable to owners now using multiple wireless service providers - as opposed to only using AT&T back in the July 2010 survey."
Apple's iPhone 4S launched worldwide in October.
