Google's mobile payment software has been blocked by the Verizon network.

The carrier refused to allow Google Wallet to appear on the Samsung Galaxy Nexus smartphone due to security concerns.

Verizon said that it is waiting for the search giant to provide "the best security and user experience" before passing the software. However, it has been reported that the provider plans to launch a rival payment service.

The Wall Street Journal claims that Verizon has joined forces with AT&T and T-Mobile to develop a monetary application called ISIS, which is slated to begin trials in 2012.

"Verizon asked us not to include this functionality in the product," said a Google spokesperson.

The Sprint network is the only North American carrier that supports Google Wallet. The service is being tested in several major US cities.
