French newspaper Les Echos reports that the search giant plans to roll out the near field communication (NFC) payment service in time for next summer's Olympic Games.
Google is said to be in talks with British banks, distributors and retailers about making contactless payments available to its service users. Google Wallet launched in the US in the autumn.
The platform holder pioneered NFC technology with the launch of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus handset. Other mobile phone manufacturers have since embraced the feature, but Apple remains opposed.
Verizon, a leading US network provider, previously blocked Google Wallet in North America over alleged security concerns. However, rumours suggest that the company is working on a rival monetary application.
The Sprint network is the only North American carrier that supports Google Wallet. The service is available in beta in several major US cities.
