Asda, owned by US retail giant WalMart, will stock the Venturer 15.6-inch LED HD-ready TV from Boxing Day in store and online.
Priced at £50, the widescreen Venturer is a 720p set, meaning it is not Full HD at 1080p. Asda feels the product will suit customers looking for a second HD set to stop arguments over what to watch on TV this Christmas.
"This is an astonishing deal and we're delighted to be able to bring HD-ready TV to our customers at such an amazing price," said Michael Arnott, the HD TV buyer at Asda.
"We're also glad to be doing our bit to support domestic harmony this Christmas."

Meanwhile, early research data has indicated that Microsoft's Xbox 360 will beat Sony's PlayStation 3 as the console gift of choice this Christmas.
Online discount service MyVoucherCodes said that the Xbox 360 is enjoying twice the number of searches as the PS3 by customers looking for a deal on a new console.
Nearly half of all console searches on the site were for the Xbox 360, ahead of the PS3 and Nintendo Wii in second and third place respectively.
MyVoucherCodes also said that Microsoft's Kinect motion control system is getting three times as many searches as Sony's PlayStation Move.
Nintendo's DS leads the handheld searches, ahead of its 3D sister console. Sony's PSP has only 1% of searches, but that could be down to the forthcoming launch of the new PlayStation Vita handheld.
The top five search list runs as follows:
1. Xbox 360 - 45%
2. PS3 - 19%
3. Wii -15%
4. DS - 12%
5. 3DS - 8%
