The BBC News app, which launched on Samsung TVs in June last year, is to expand to Sony's Bravia internet-connected TV sets.
Designed to complement the BBC's live 24-hour rolling news channel, the app is updated constantly with new video and text by a dedicated 24/7 BBC Online team.
The service is designed to give the viewer an on-demand TV news channel experience, presenting video and text content in a carousel-based layout. Users also have options to pause, fast forward and rewind videos.
Sony category development manager Edd Uzzell said: "The News app provides another great way for people to keep on top of what's going on at a time that suits them.
"We continue to add new and exciting partners to the Sony Entertainment Network, ensuring there is always something great to watch."
The free app is available on the following Sony Bravia Internet TV models - CX520, CX523, EX320, EX523, EX524, EX723, EX724, NX723, HX723, HX823 and HX923.
The BBC News app joins the already available BBC iPlayer catch-up TV app on Bravia TVs, as well as a raft of on-demand news content from Sky News.
