Vimeo unveils website redesign - video

Vimeo has unveiled its new look with a site-wide overhaul.
The video-sharing service is introducing its first revamp since launch to improve the "discoverability" of its content and bring competition to market leader YouTube.
Vimeo users will now be given recommendations based on their viewing habits, and can track the latest site updates and other topics via a news feed. The firm claims that its "focus" on content sets it apart from its competitors.

"A lot of people come to Vimeo because they care about how content is created," Vimeo communications director Deborah Szajngarten told BBC News.
"That's everyone from the soccer mum who doesn't want ads over their children's video, to high-end professional content creators."
Szajngarten went on to say that Vimeo's embeddable video player will remain free of advertising, a strategy the firm is adopting to maintain its popularity among bloggers and help it compete with YouTube.
Google-owned YouTube announced yesterday that it is now playing 4 billion video clips daily, marking a 25% increase over a period of eight months.
Vimeo, which went live in 2007, attracts 65 million unique users a month. Its new look is currently in closed beta while the finishing touches are applied.
