A listing for a device called the Galaxy S II+ has surfaced on the benchmarking database of An3DBenchXL, sparking rumours that the handset will be unveiled at the Mobile World Conference (MWC) later this month.
The Samsung filing lists the phone as having a 1.5GHz processor, an improvement on the Galaxy S II's 1.2GHz dual-core chip. Surprisingly, it also notes that the handset will be powered by Android 2.3.4, several versions behind the latest Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system.
A screen resolution of 800 x 480 was also documented, putting the device on par with the Galaxy S II in terms of graphical capabilities.
Samsung has a history of adding mid-range iterations to its Galaxy line, such as the Galaxy Ace Plus and Galaxy S Advance. The latter handset was previously confirmed for MWC 2012.
Samsung recently said that it is "still reviewing" when to announce its much-anticipated Galaxy S III handset, dispelling speculation that it is in line for MWC.
The Mobile World Congress 2012 will take place in Barcelona between February 27 and March 1.
