Skype for Windows has been given the 5.8 update.

The download introduces full HD video-calling and group screen-sharing to the communication service, along with other features.

The 5.8 update also adds video-calling for Facebook subscribers, allowing users to chat with friends who don't have Skype installed on their computer.

A new 'Push to Talk' function enables users to set a hotkey for microphone muting, a feature that the firm implemented in response to the demand from online multiplayer gamers.

Skype also implemented some bug fixes with the update, correcting minor accessibility problems and other issues.

The 5.8 update is available now for Windows users to download.
