Samsung has announced that it will not hold a press conference at this year's Mobile World Congress (MWC).

Reports suggest that the Korean firm will not have as strong a presence at the Barcelona event as previously thought.

A company spokesperson told T3: "I have just been told that Samsung are not having one this year. It was never cancelled, it wasn't actually something Samsung planned to do this year."

Samsung was rumoured to be unveiling two Android tablets powered by its new Exynos processor at MWC, as well as a refreshed version of its Galaxy S II smartphone dubbed the Galaxy S II+. Its Galaxy Tab 11.6 may also be announced at the show.

Last month, it was reported that Samsung is "still reviewing" when to officially announce its much-anticipated Galaxy S III handset, another device once tipped to appear at the Spain show.

The Mobile World Congress 2012 will take place in Barcelona between February 27 and March 1.
