Apple 'finalising iPad 3 launch apps list'

Apple is reportedly in "crunch mode" as it reaches the final stages of preparation for the announcement of the iPad 3 next month by selecting the apps which will accompany the launch.

Widespread speculation indicates that the third iteration of the iPad tablet computer will be finally confirmed by the California technology giant in early March.

Apple has previously selected a batch of apps to show off the power and features of its new products, including Apple's own iMovie, Garage Band and Photo Booths apps at the iPad 2 launch.

The iPhone 4S launch was accompanied by Epic Games' mobile title Infinity Blade 2 as a way to show off the new graphical power in the smartphone.

According to The Next Web, sources indicate that Apple is now ramping up its selection process for the app launch lineup for the iPad 3.

The website claims that the apps will largely be graphics-focused services in order to highlight the much rumoured new high resolution display in the iPad 3.

Some of the apps that Apple feels are strong enough will be passed on to the firm's long-time advertising partner TBWA for potential inclusion in the initial iPad 3 ad campaign.

Apple is having to accelerate the app-selection process to give TBWA enough time to finalise marketing material for the presentation, and for later television spots.
