
The electronics giant told Pocket-lint that it plans to bring the devices to a new market despite below par sales in the US.
Sony attributed Google TV's lacklustre reception in North America to the lack of a dedicated storefront to support the platform. The firm went on to say that it is confident the launch of the Android Market will help reverse its fortunes.
Google TV will launch in Europe with networked media and Blu-ray players. Sony's NSZ-GP9 Google TV Blu-ray Disc Player, which features voice control, a digital remote and motion support, will serve as a flagship device.
Sony also said that its forthcoming Google TV products will offer PC-quality web surfing through the Chrome browser, which will include Adobe Flash support.
Last month, LG Electronics announced a new 3D connected television set running the Google TV software.
